My Lost Dragon

I hold within me the millions of stories

Of this world and the better ones.

Where I flew as the dragon, unpierced,

Raging fire on my fears.

And swam as the whale,

Blowing out my insecurities with the crashing water and waves.

Now, I look at this gloom

I am far from those enchanted palace rooms.

No rabbit hole, to take me to my Wonderland

No cupboard to teleport me to those Narnian sands.

I am one.

Against a whole army of fiends

Hell-bent on my doom

When I flew as the dragon

I also knew of the thunder

Which could extinguish my flames

Where there is good, there is bad

Yet, I search for a feeling other than ‘sad’.

I shield myself from the striking lightning every minute

There’s a storm coming

And there's no trace of the sun.

I am standing bare,

With no dragon.
